The Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics offers a four-year undergraduate program organized into eight semesters. During the first two years of study, students become familiar with the fundamental concepts and principles of molecular biosciences, as well as with modern scientific methods and laboratory techniques. In the third and fourth years, students deepen their knowledge of Molecular Biology and Genetics and explore their scientific and technological applications.

In the first three semesters (A–C), only compulsory courses are offered. These courses are considered essential by the Department’s General Assembly for the academic training of a molecular biologist–geneticist, and students must successfully complete them in order to obtain their degree.

Starting from the fourth semester, students attend both compulsory courses and elective courses, from which they must select eight. Course selections are declared at the beginning of each semester. During the eighth semester, students may either complete a Bachelor’s Thesis or choose additional elective courses.

The thesis is an experimental research project aimed at familiarizing students with scientific problem solving, laboratory work, experimental design, literature use, data analysis, and the writing of an independent scientific study.
