Description
The subject of the Postgraduate Programme is the provision of postgraduate education, advanced knowledge, background and knowhow, the conduct of research and practical training of postgraduate students in the scientific field of Optometric Control techniques, in the application of specialized contact lenses, in the imaging techniques for the eye, in the prevention and diagnosis of problems and conditions of the optical system.
The purposes of the Postgraduate programme are the following:
a) Provide to students with an integrated view of the optometric control and protocol, of specialized applications of contact lenses, knowledge about the identification of problems and conditions of the optic system and of the eye specifically.
b) Equip students with skills that are going to be used as tools in order to design and perform objective refractory measurements, screening control, deal with and monitor ophthalmic conditions and optical problems.
c) Provide a high level of academic and clinical scientific education, so they, either working as autonomous professionals or by working in structures related to the provision of optometric control, can elevate the level of ophthalmic health for the population. At the same time, it aims to the development and forwarding of research in the field of optometry.
d) Create professionals who shall be capable of applying of formulating policies for preventing screening and post-treatment management of ophthalmic conditions, as specialized personnel with an important social and financial impact to our country.
