- They have a coherent and integrated body of knowledge, which includes data from the scientific or other cutting-edge developments and understand the concepts, methods and practices of the scientific and technological knowledge field of Biomedical Engineering to deepen, broaden and augment previous knowledge .
- They have a perception of the evolutionary dynamics of the scientific subject area of Biomedical Engineering and current and / or innovative applications in the field.
- Possess analytical and advanced knowledge of the subject of Biomedical Technology, including critical understanding of theories, basic concepts, principles and methodologies of scientific and applied scientific field of Biomedical Engineering.
Skills:
- Analyse and adapt the knowledge acquired to apply them to a variety of topics of the scientific and professional field of Biomedical Engineering, as well as acquire new knowledge.
- Correctly apply the right tools and appropriate analytical techniques in exploring key issues of the scientific field of Biomedical Technology.
- Resolve complex or new problems of the scientific field of Biomedical Technology, developing integrated and creative or innovative solutions and approaches, while supporting the solutions and their views with a scientific and methodical manner.
- Using scientific sources or sources specialized in theoretical, technical and professional issues, collect, analyse and choose with a critical and responsible manner ideas and information for the elements of concern.
- Develop issues, especially within the cognitive and professional field of Biomedical Technology based on scientific evidence and form valid judgments, which take into account the appropriate relevant social, economic, cultural and ethical dimensions of the issue in question.
- Communicate with specialized and non-specialised groups and with the public to convey verbally, in writing and by other means, information, ideas, problems and solutions to specific issues.

Relation to Employment
1. Graduates of the Department of Biomedical Engineering of Technological Education (Formerly Department of Medical Instruments Technology) in the School of Applied Technology (STEF) of the Technological Education Institutions, upon graduating, based on their specialized scientific and technical knowledge, are engaged in the private and public sectors, either independently or in cooperation with other scientists, with the study, research and application of technology on modern and specific areas of biomedical technology, the procedure producing devices, systems, arrangements, equipment and biomedical materials, as well as with the marketing, maintenance, repair and commissioning thereof, with the collaboration possibly of other specialists (doctors, radiophysicists, biochemists).
2. The Department's graduates can be employed in the following fields:
a) Production or marketing of any kind of devices, systems, arrangements, equipment and biomedical materials.
b) Repair, maintenance, reconstruction of all kinds of devices, systems, arrangements, equipment and biomedical materials.
c) Ensuring in hospitals, perhaps working with other specialists such as doctors, radiophysicists, biochemists, of the readiness for use of devices and instruments, while being responsible for the maintenance, repair, and inspection thereof.
d) Participation in the evaluation of tenders for the supply of all kinds of devices, systems, arrangements, equipment and biomedical materials.
e) Preparation and supervision or participation in studies for the establishment, organization and operation of units producing devices, systems, arrangements, equipment and biomedical materials.
f) Specialized works for the installation and commissioning of medical equipment, laboratory equipment, and Hospital departments (operating theatres, radiology departments, etc.), which are entered in the Experience Register for Manufacturers (M.E.K.).
g) Conduct, as executives of the State, of audits to respective large industries and small industries, including private laboratories and clinics to grant the relevant operation license.
h) Any other occupation, included in the subject of their expertise, based on the development of technology, in accordance with the provisions of the applicable legislation.
3. The graduates of the Department progress within the administrative and technical hierarchy relative to the fields of Biomedical Technology. They can also undertake the positions of the officials provided for by the legislation in force about the operation of units using or producing devices, systems, arrangements, equipment and materials of Biomedical Technology.
4. The Department's graduates can be employed in education in accordance with the pertinent legislation in their field of expertise. They can also be employed as members of research groups on subjects of their expertise.
