Description
The Bachelor's Degree in Photography and Audiovisual Arts is offered by the Department of Photography and Audiovisual Arts of the University of West Attica. The programme provides comprehensive education in photography, video, audiovisual arts, digital media, artistic creation and visual communication, combining theoretical studies, artistic research and extensive laboratory practice. Students develop creative, technical and research skills for the production, processing and presentation of photographic and audiovisual works.
Relation to Employment
Graduates can work as professional photographers, audiovisual producers, cinematographers, cameramen, digital content creators, exhibition curators, executives at cultural organizations, communications firms, and creative industries, or as freelancers.
Access Requirements / Progression Opportunities
A high school diploma and successful completion of the Panhellenic or placement exams are required. The degree is awarded upon successful completion of eight semesters and 240 ECTS credits.
Knowledge
Graduates possess comprehensive and specialized knowledge in photography, video and audiovisual arts, combining theoretical, technical and aesthetic education. They acquire knowledge of the theory and history of photography and visual culture, visual communication, photographic semiotics, aesthetics, analogue and digital imaging technologies, audiovisual production, multimedia and contemporary artistic creation and research methods.
Skills
Graduates develop skills in the creative and critical interpretation of photographic and audiovisual imagery, the design and production of original photographic and audiovisual works, the use of modern technological equipment and digital applications, image and video processing, multimedia production, and the organization and management of artistic and professional productions. They also develop original thinking, aesthetic judgement and research skills.
Competences
Graduates are capable of applying their theoretical, technical and aesthetic knowledge to create, manage and evaluate photographic and audiovisual works. They are able to responsibly manage and solve complex professional problems, work independently or within multidisciplinary teams, adapt to continuous technological developments, produce high-quality artistic and research work and pursue postgraduate and research studies.
