Description

The Bachelor's Degree in Public Health Policy is offered by the Department of Public Health Policy of the School of Public Health at the University of West Attica. The programme provides comprehensive education in public health policy, health services management, epidemiology, health economics, social policy, health promotion, public health emergency management and health systems evaluation. Students acquire knowledge and skills for designing, implementing and evaluating policies that protect and promote population health.

Relation to Employment

The program prepares graduates for employment in public health organizations, hospitals, health services, insurance organizations, local government agencies, public services, research institutions, international organizations, nongovernmental organizations, and bodies responsible for the planning and evaluation of health policies. It also offers opportunities for further study at the master’s and doctoral levels.

Access Requirements / Progression Opportunities

Admission to the program requires a Secondary School Leaving Certificate (High School Diploma) and successful participation in national-level examinations.

Graduates gain knowledge in public health policy, health services administration, epidemiology, biostatistics, health economics, sociology of health, health promotion, crisis management, health services evaluation, and relevant national and European legislation.

They develop skills in the design, implementation, and evaluation of public health policies; the analysis of health data; the assessment of population needs; the management of health services; the conduct of research studies; using statistical tools, and developing prevention and health promotion programs.

Graduates can design and evaluate public health policies, participate in the management of health organizations, support decision-making processes, manage prevention programs, and collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams and public agencies.
