Description


The Bachelor's Degree in Graphic Design and Visual Communication is offered by the Department of Graphic Design and Visual Communication of the University of West Attica. The programme provides comprehensive scientific and artistic education in graphic design, visual communication, print and digital media design, typography, illustration, photography, corporate identity, packaging design, animation and interactive multimedia. Students acquire theoretical knowledge, artistic skills and practical experience through studio-based education and design projects.

Relation to Employment

Graduates can find employment at advertising agencies, creative agencies, publishing organizations, digital media companies, corporate identity and packaging design firms, multimedia production companies, cultural organizations, or as freelancers in the fields of visual communication and design.

Access Requirements / Progression Opportunities

A high school diploma and successful completion of the Panhellenic or placement exams are required. The degree is awarded upon successful completion of eight semesters and 240 ECTS credits.

Knowledge

Graduates possess comprehensive and specialized knowledge in visual communication design, graphic design, typography, graphic arts, print and digital media, design theory and history, aesthetics, visual perception, graphic production technologies and contemporary methods for creating, managing and evaluating visual communication. This knowledge enables them to understand design as a creative, scientific and technological process.
 

Skills

Graduates develop skills in applying design methodologies, creative and artistic expression, developing integrated visual communication solutions, utilizing modern digital tools and technologies, producing print and digital media and managing design projects. They are able to apply creative, intellectual and technical skills that are sustainable and transferable to dynamic professional environments.

Graduates are capable of expressing aesthetic principles through creative design and artistic practices, developing effective visual communication solutions while considering social, cultural and environmental values, working independently or collaboratively with professional ethics, organizing and managing design projects and responding to the evolving demands of the creative industries and graphic arts.
