Description
The Bachelor's Degree in Physiotherapy is offered by the Department of Physiotherapy of the University of West Attica. The programme provides comprehensive scientific education in the assessment, prevention and rehabilitation of movement and functional disorders through physical agents, therapeutic exercise and modern physiotherapy interventions. Students receive theoretical education, laboratory training and extensive clinical practice in accordance with international standards in physiotherapy.
Relation to Employment
Graduates work as physical therapists in public and private healthcare institutions, hospitals, rehabilitation centers, sports organizations, primary health care facilities, private physical therapy clinics, or as independent practitioners.
Access Requirements / Progression Opportunities
A high school diploma and successful completion of the Panhellenic or placement exams are required. The degree is awarded upon successful completion of eight semesters and 240 ECTS credits.
Knowledge
Graduates possess comprehensive and specialized knowledge in the field of Physiotherapy and the underlying health sciences. They understand the principles of human movement and functional assessment, prevention, rehabilitation and health promotion, as well as contemporary theories and evidence-based methods governing physiotherapy practice. Their knowledge is aligned with the standards of World Physiotherapy and the European Qualifications Framework.
Skills
Graduates develop skills in applying physiotherapy interventions and specialized techniques to address health problems and functional limitations. They are able to perform clinical assessments, collect and interpret clinical data, select appropriate therapeutic approaches, apply evidence-based practice and continuously acquire new knowledge through lifelong learning and further scientific development with a high degree of autonomy.
Competences
Graduates are capable of preventing, assessing and managing dysfunctions of the human body, interpreting assessment findings, setting short- and long-term therapeutic goals, selecting and implementing the most appropriate physiotherapy intervention or specialized technique, and evaluating the effectiveness of their interventions. They are also able to practise autonomously, responsibly and ethically, meeting the contemporary demands of healthcare systems and society.
