Description


The Bachelor's Degree in Nursing is offered by the Department of Nursing of the University of West Attica. The programme provides comprehensive education in nursing science, biomedical and social sciences, health promotion, disease prevention, rehabilitation, evidence-based nursing practice, clinical education and research. Students acquire theoretical knowledge, laboratory training and extensive clinical experience in healthcare settings.

Relation to Employment

Graduates find employment in public and private hospitals, health centers, primary care facilities, intensive care units, mental health facilities, community services, rehabilitation facilities, public health institutions, educational and research institutions, or as independent practitioners in accordance with applicable law.

Access Requirements / Progression Opportunities

A high school diploma and successful completion of the Panhellenic or placement exams are required. The degree is awarded upon successful completion of eight semesters and 240 ECTS credits.

Knowledge

Graduates possess comprehensive and demonstrated knowledge of the field of Nursing, with a critical understanding of the theories, principles and scientific evidence governing professional nursing practice. They acquire knowledge in health assessment, disease prevention, health promotion, treatment and rehabilitation, as well as biomedical, social and behavioural sciences supporting the provision of safe, high-quality and evidence-based nursing care.
 

Skills

Graduates develop skills in collecting, analysing and interpreting clinical data, assessing the needs of individuals, families and communities, formulating nursing diagnoses, planning, implementing and evaluating nursing interventions, solving problems, making clinical decisions and applying evidence-based nursing practice. They also develop communication, collaboration and effective teamwork skills within multidisciplinary healthcare teams.

Competences


Graduates are capable of providing comprehensive nursing care across all levels of the healthcare system, practising effectively in primary, secondary and tertiary healthcare settings, exercising the profession with professional, social and ethical responsibility, working within multidisciplinary healthcare environments, contributing to education, healthcare management and nursing research, and pursuing continuous professional development through lifelong learning and critical reflection on professional practice.
