Description
The Bachelor's Degree in Archival, Library and Information Studies is offered by the Department of Archival, Library and Information Studies of the University of West Attica. The programme provides scientific education in the organization, management, preservation and dissemination of information and cultural heritage. Students acquire knowledge in archives management, library science, information systems, digital content management, information technologies and knowledge management.

Graduates can find employment in archives, libraries, documentation centers, museums, cultural organizations, public and private information management agencies, as well as digital information organizations.
Access Requirements / Progression Opportunities
A high school diploma and successful completion of the Panhellenic or placement exams are required. The degree is awarded upon successful completion of eight semesters and 240 ECTS credits.
Knowledge
The program provides students with comprehensive knowledge in archival science, library and information science, and information management, integrating humanities, cultural heritage management, and modern information technologies. Graduates acquire a solid scientific background in the organization, documentation, classification, indexing, preservation, retrieval, and dissemination of information, the management of physical and digital collections, library, archive, and museum information systems, as well as principles of digitization, digital preservation, information literacy, knowledge management, and the application of emerging technologies in information organizations.
Skills
Graduates develop skills in organizing, documenting, cataloguing, classifying, and managing archival, library, and cultural resources, designing and operating information systems, managing digital repositories and collections, assessing information needs, and providing specialized information services. They also acquire skills in the use of information technologies, metadata standards, documentation frameworks, and digital management tools, together with research, data analysis, problem-solving, communication, teamwork, and project management skills within information organizations.

Graduates are capable of effectively managing information resources in libraries, archives, museums, cultural institutions, public organizations, and private enterprises by applying scientific principles and modern technological solutions. They are able to design and support information services, contribute to the digital transformation of organizations, preserve and promote cultural and information heritage, act according to professional ethics, and collaborate effectively in interdisciplinary environments. They also possess the competences required for lifelong professional development, participation in research activities, and continuation of studies at postgraduate and doctoral levels.
