Description
The Bachelor's Degree in English Language and Literature is offered by the Department of English Language and Literature of the School of Philosophy at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. The programme provides comprehensive academic education in English language, linguistics, literature, culture, translation and English language teaching. Students develop advanced language proficiency together with theoretical, research, analytical, communication and intercultural competences, preparing them for professional and academic careers in related fields.

Access Requirements / Progression Opportunities
Admission requires a secondary school leaving certificate and successful participation in the national university entrance examinations or other admission procedures provided by law. Graduates may continue with postgraduate and doctoral studies in Greece and abroad.
Knowledge
The programme provides comprehensive knowledge of the English language, theoretical and applied linguistics, English and American literature, cultural studies, translation and Teaching English as a Foreign Language. Students acquire academic knowledge of language and literary theories, linguistic analysis, the history and development of English, and intercultural communication, in accordance with the official curriculum.
Skills
The programme equips students with advanced oral and written communication skills in English, linguistic and literary analysis, translation, academic research, language data evaluation, scholarly writing and the application of modern approaches to English language teaching.
