Description
The Bachelor’s Degree in Philology is offered by the Department of Philology of the School of Humanities and Cultural Studies at the University of Peloponnese. The curriculum covers Classical Philology, Byzantine and Modern Greek Philology, Linguistics, and Ancient, Medieval, and Modern Greek Literature. Students acquire theoretical and research-oriented knowledge in Greek language, literature, textual analysis, intellectual history, and Greek culture.
Relation to Employment
The programme prepares graduates for employment in education, research, culture, publishing, media organizations, cultural institutions, libraries, archives, and heritage management organizations. Graduates acquire academic training for teaching Greek language and literature and for conducting philological research.

Admission requires a secondary school leaving certificate and successful participation in national entrance examinations or legally established qualifying procedures.
Knowledge
The programme provides knowledge in Ancient Greek and Latin literature, Byzantine and Modern Greek philology, linguistics, literary theory, the history of the Greek language, and Greek culture. Students acquire the theoretical and methodological background necessary for the study, analysis, and interpretation of philological texts.
