Description

The Bachelor’s Degree in Speech and Language Therapy is offered by the Department of Speech and Language Therapy of the School of Health Sciences at the University of the Peloponnese. The program aims to promote knowledge in Speech and Language Therapy through teaching, research, and clinical education. Students acquire knowledge and skills in the prevention, assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of speech, language, voice, communication, and swallowing disorders, as well as in related disciplines such as medicine, psychology, and linguistics. The program prepares graduates with a high level of professional and clinical competence.

Relation to Employment

The program aims to develop knowledge and skills enabling graduates to work in hospitals, rehabilitation centers, private therapy clinics, mainstream and special education schools, elderly care facilities, early intervention centers, and healthcare and rehabilitation services.

Access Requirements / Progression Opportunities

Admission requires a secondary school leaving certificate and successful participation in national entrance examinations or qualifying examinations.

Knowledge

The program provides knowledge in communication physiology and pathology, speech, language, voice, hearing and swallowing disorders, as well as in linguistics, psychology, neurology, and health sciences.

Skills

Students develop skills in assessment, diagnosis, therapeutic intervention, and rehabilitation of individuals with communication, speech, language, voice, and swallowing disorders. They also gain experience through structured clinical education and practical training.

Competences

Graduates acquire the ability to design and implement individualized intervention programs, collaborate within interdisciplinary health and education teams, and provide evidence-based prevention, assessment, and rehabilitation services.
