Description

The Bachelor’s Degree in Mediterranean Studies is offered by the University of the Aegean through the Department of Mediterranean Studies and provides interdisciplinary education in the fields of history, archaeology, linguistics, international relations, and Mediterranean politics. The curriculum places particular emphasis on the Eastern Mediterranean and its historical, cultural, and geopolitical development over time. At the same time, it combines theoretical training with research-oriented approaches, integrating language studies, cultural analysis, and contemporary international developments. Students acquire a strong academic background and analytical thinking skills for understanding complex historical, cultural, and international issues related to the Mediterranean region.

Graduates of the Department of Mediterranean Studies acquire knowledge related to the history, archaeology, languages, and political developments of the Mediterranean, especially the Eastern Mediterranean. They become familiar with issues of international relations, international law, culture, and linguistics, as well as with the study of social and geopolitical transformations in the region. In addition, they develop a research-oriented and interdisciplinary approach to the analysis of historical and contemporary phenomena.

Skills

Graduates acquire skills in analyzing and interpreting historical, cultural, and political data, as well as abilities in scientific research and documentation. They develop communication skills, intercultural understanding, and the use of modern methods for information analysis and processing. In addition, they strengthen their linguistic background through the study of Mediterranean languages such as Arabic, Turkish, and Hebrew.
