Description
Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Education and Sport Science provides education in the scientific field of physical education and sport, combining theoretical and practical training in exercise, coaching, pedagogy, biological sciences, and the organization of physical activity. The programme is structured in eight (8) semesters and corresponds to 240 ECTS credits. The degree corresponds to Level 6 of the National Qualifications Framework (EOPPEP).
Relation to Employment
Holders of the degree may be employed in primary and secondary education as Physical Education teachers, being classified under the PE11 Physical Education sector, as well as coaches of individual or team sports, in Special Education, in exercise and fitness settings, in exercise and health programmes, in leisure management, and as administrative staff in sports organizations. The programme includes courses leading to Teaching and Pedagogical Competence.
Access Requirements / Progression Opportunities
Admission to the program requires a high school diploma and successful participation in national-level examinations or qualifying examinations.

Graduates possess specialized knowledge in the field of Physical Education and Sport Science, covering theoretical and applied aspects such as coaching, exercise biology, kinesiology, sport psychology, pedagogy, and the organization of physical activity. In addition, they understand the contribution of exercise to health, education, recreation, and social inclusion, as well as the scientific principles governing the study and evaluation of human movement and athletic performance.
Skills
Graduates develop skills in teaching, guidance, and assessment in Physical Education and Sport, as well as skills in designing, implementing, and evaluating exercise programmes for different age groups and populations. In addition, they are able to analyse human movement, support the improvement of motor skills and athletic performance, make use of pedagogical and communication strategies, and apply scientific knowledge in fields such as education, health, recreation, and competitive sport.
Competences
Graduates are capable of applying scientific and theoretical concepts of Physical Education and Sport in school physical education, competitive sport, recreational physical activity, and therapeutic exercise. They are also capable of designing, implementing, and evaluating exercise programmes for all age groups and different populations, analysing human movement, identifying and correcting elements of motor skills and performance, using assessment procedures and critical thinking in decision-making, and effectively employing pedagogical and communication strategies with the aim of promoting health, physical fitness, and quality of life.
