Description
The Degree in Geology of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki is a first-cycle qualification of eight (8) semesters and 240 ECTS credits. It provides comprehensive education in Geosciences and equips graduates with the core knowledge and competences required to understand geological phenomena, pursue specialization in individual fields of Geology, and practice the profession of geologist.
Relation to Employment
Graduates of the Department of Geology of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki fall under the branch P.E.04.05 Geologists. Pedagogical and teaching competence is acquired in accordance with the applicable legal framework and the relevant procedures of the Department.

Admission to the program requires a high school diploma and successful participation in national-level examinations.

Graduates possess a solid and comprehensive background in Geology and the Geosciences, with an understanding of the fundamental concepts, theories, and scientific approaches of the field. They are familiar with the composition, structure, evolution, and processes of the Earth, as well as with issues related to the geological environment, natural resources, and the interactions between geological systems and human activity.

Graduates are able to identify and interpret geological phenomena, apply field methods and laboratory techniques, collect and evaluate geological data, and use scientific tools for the study of the Earth, the environment, and natural resources.
