Description

The Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work is a higher education qualification in the field of social sciences and social care. It certifies that graduates possess academic knowledge related to social issues, social policy and welfare systems. The qualification demonstrates that graduates understand social structures, human behaviour and social intervention methods. It also certifies the development of professional skills for supporting vulnerable populations and addressing social challenges. The degree corresponds to Level 6 of the Hellenic and European Qualifications Frameworks and provides access to professional practice and postgraduate studies.

Graduates may work in social services, hospitals, NGOs, public administration and welfare organisations, supporting individuals and communities.

Access Requirements / Progression Opportunities

Admission to the program requires a Secondary School Leaving Certificate (High School Diploma) and successful participation in national-level examinations.

Knowledge

The cultivation of critical thinking is a fundamental goal of the educational mission, achieved through the development of knowledge, analytical and synthesis skills, and familiarity with the academic fields taught in the Department, which are essential for both professional placement and the scientific, research, and/or academic advancement of the Department’s graduates. Emphasis is also placed on linking theory with practice through internships, encouraging and developing innovative actions and interventions in the community, promoting equal opportunities, and combating discrimination, racism, and xenophobia.

Skills

Graduates are able to assess social needs and design interventions. They can apply social work methods and use scientific tools for analysis.

Graduates are able to provide social support, work responsibly in social environments and contribute to social welfare and community development.
