Description

The Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing is a higher education qualification in the field of nursing science certifying that graduates possess academic and clinical training required for healthcare practice. The qualification demonstrates that graduates have knowledge of the human body, disease processes and principles of patient care. It also certifies the development of professional responsibility and ethical awareness in healthcare environments. The degree corresponds to Level 6 of the Hellenic and European Qualifications Frameworks and enables graduates to practice the nursing profession and pursue further postgraduate studies.

Relation to Employment

Graduates may work as nurses in hospitals, health centres, primary healthcare services, private clinics and public health organisations.

Access Requirements / Progression Opportunities

Admission to the program requires a Secondary School Leaving Certificate (High School Diploma) and successful participation in national-level examinations.

Knowledge

Upon completion of the program, students will be able to:
1. Possess a high level of knowledge in the scientific field of Nursing Science pertaining to the promotion and assurance of quality of life in health and illness, for healthy or ill individuals, families, groups, and communities.
2. Critically apply the acquired theoretical knowledge to nursing practice and research.

Skills

Upon completion of the program, students will be able to:
1.    Design and implement scientifically grounded programs for health assessment, maintenance, prevention, or promotion, taking into account the specific characteristics and needs of individuals or groups. 
2.    Monitor and evaluate program outcomes, modify and redefine their strategies, and redesign their program based on the results. To critically assess and reflect on their own role and contribution to the outcome.
3. Demonstrate professional responsibility and consistency, ethical conduct, and respect for the unique characteristics, abilities, and needs of individuals or groups.

Competences

Upon completion of the program, students will be able to:
1.    Search for, evaluate, and critically apply new scientific data and information from various sources to support and justify their choices and decisions.
2. Systematically monitor scientific developments and critically incorporate new practices and methods into their professional practice.
3. Effectively communicate, verbally, in writing, or through other means, scientific information, evidence-based advice, and their professional opinion to individuals/groups, colleagues, and the wider community.
4. Demonstrate interpersonal and collaborative skills, be able to develop successful therapeutic and professional relationships, and establish effective collaborations with colleagues and professionals from other disciplines within interdisciplinary teams
