Description
The Degree in Pharmacy of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki constitutes a higher education qualification of five years’ duration, certifying the successful completion of an undergraduate programme in pharmaceutical science, with theoretical instruction, laboratory education, and practical training.
Relation to Employment
Upon successful completion of the program, graduates of the Department of Pharmacy will be qualified to practice as pharmacists, providing pharmaceutical care services either as private practitioners in community pharmacies or within hospital settings, pharmaceutical industries, quality control laboratories, and healthcare organizations. Graduates are eligible for placement in the corresponding public sector branch PE87.03 Pharmacists.

Admission to the program requires a high school diploma and successful participation in national-level examinations.
Knowledge
Graduates of the Department of Pharmacy possess a comprehensive knowledge base in the fundamental and applied pharmaceutical sciences, including chemistry, pharmacology, pharmaceutical technology, and clinical pharmacy. They are able to understand drug design and mechanisms of action, evaluate their efficacy and safety, and apply the principles of rational pharmacotherapy. At the same time, they have expertise in the development and quality control of pharmaceutical products, as well as in pharmaceutical legislation and public health, contributing in an evidence-based manner to pharmaceutical care and research.

Graduates of the Department of Pharmacy of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, upon completion of the five-year study program (300 ECTS) and the required practical training, possess comprehensive scientific and professional competencies in pharmaceutical science. They are capable of responsibly providing pharmaceutical care, evaluating pharmacotherapeutic regimens, and participating in the development and quality control of pharmaceutical products. Furthermore, they demonstrate the ability to apply scientific documentation, utilize modern technologies, manage organizational responsibilities, and collaborate effectively within an interdisciplinary environment, maintaining a high level of professional ethics and social responsibility.
