Description
Upon completion of the study programme, the graduate possesses the following:
Knowledge:
- Knows the basic mathematical and physical concepts used in Engineering.
- Knows and explains the operation of electrical and electronic circuits.
- Knows the basic principles of modelling physical systems, of technical control and of stability of closed loop systems.
- Knows programming technologies and acquires basic knowledge of logic circuits and microprocessors.
- Knows issues of electromechanical installations in buildings and industrial environments.
- Knows the electricity systems (generation, transmission and distribution), as well as renewable energy technologies.
- Knows issues on electrical machinery, power electronics and electric drive systems.
- Knows issues of illumination design and ohmic and inductive heating.
Skills:
- Describes the operation of electrical and electronic circuits-devices.
- Describes the operation of power systems (generation, transmission and distribution).
- Describes the operation of automatic control systems with an emphasis on electric drive.
- Develops automation with microcontrollers and PLCs for building and industrial applications.
- Implements assemblies of electrical machinery (transformers and dc / ac motors / generators).
- Analyses and describes the operation of electrical equipment protection systems.
- Conducts and evaluates measurements of electrical quantities.
- Evaluates the operation of electric systems and the quality of electric power.
Capacities:
- Supports and maintains power systems (generation, transmission and distribution).
- Studies, plans and maintains electrical installations for building and industrial sectors.
- Studies, plans and maintains automation with microcontrollers and PLCs for building and industrial applications.
- Studies, plans and maintains renewable energy installations.
Relation to Employment
The qualification has specific professional rights which, as far as the design, construction, inspection and maintenance of electrical installations are concerned, were established by Royal Decree 699 of 10/17.11.1971, Official Gazette 233A '.
The T.E. Electrical Engineers, according to the Presidential Decree 108/07.06.2013 (Official Gazette 141A/12.06.2013), upon award of their diploma, may apply to the competent service of the region in order to gain immediate right to pursue the professional activities of installer-electrician (group 3 of specialty A), installer of luminescent pipes and inscriptions (specialty C), and of the 1st and 2nd group of specialty D, and/or of maintainer-electrician of specialty D.
