The students shall be capable of:
Knowledge:
Students are capable of acquiring the necessary knowledge from their tuition in the laboratories of visual and applied arts, as well as from attending the theoretical and theoretical-laboratory courses. By attending specific courses of pedagogical character, they acquire pedagogic sufficiency.
The scientific and artistic fields used for drawing knowledge are the following:
Laboratory courses of visual arts: Painting, Sculpting, Engraving.
Laboratory courses of applied arts: Digital arts, Ecclesiastical Arts, Decoration Art.
Theoretical Courses from the scientific fields: History of Art, History of Architecture, Aesthetics, Theory of Art, Sociology of Art, Museology, Cultural Management, Pedagogics, Didactics.
Theoretical - Laboratory courses from the following scientific fields: Architecture, Theories and Applications of Visual Arts, as well as courses from different fields supporting the courses of the laboratories of visual and applied arts.
Foreign language.
Skills: The skills refers to the following:
- the ability of producing artistic work and work that refers to the fields of the applied arts with various methods and means;
- teaching in the field of arts;
- collaborating with educational, artistic bodies and foundations, through practical training, which grants them professional experience prior graduating;
- the use of foreign scientific literature.
Competences:
By studying in the Department of Fine Arts and Applied Arts, the students:
- come to contact with different views and methods of artistic expression. Through studying in the different laboratories of the Department, they are capable of formulating their professional artistic identity, on which their artistic and professional progress shall be based.
- gain the opportunity of discovering the varied world of arts, while creating the conditions for integrating them in the productive network of the country;
- acquire pedagogical proficiency that allows teaching arts in public schools and in the private sector.
Learning outcomes:
The graduates, upon completing their studies, shall be capable of:
- working as artists with sufficient skills, and scientifically deal with various practical and theoretical issues related to the artistic creation in general;
- acquiring the substantial and formal qualifications, in order to be allowed to work in different professional environments, of private and public bodies in Greece, and abroad.
Relation to Employment
The graduates of the Department of Fine Arts and Applied Arts, based on their specialized scientific knowledge, are able to find employment in bodies of the private or public sector, which are engage with art in one or additional directions or specialisations among those operating in the Department.
Moreover, they are capable of working in academia or as freelancers.
In order to be appointed in academia, it is necessary to have the Pedagogical Proficiency certified, which is acquired by applying the programme and the course regulation of the Department.
