Description

Knowledge: Doctors have (a) increased specialized knowledge over a specific cognitive domain in relation to PPS "Lifelong Learning and Special Education" and of other relevant interdisciplinary subjects, (b) specialized knowledge over the current scientific, educational, and research developments, and (c) increased critical perception of the various subjects of the cognitive domain of Lifelong Learning and Special Education.
Skills: The doctors are capable of (a) applying with ease the theories and methodological approaches of the specialized subject of their doctorate, with a critical and creative way, to their own research, study, and work, (b) applying to the educational and research practice the specialized knowledge obtained through their doctorate, (c) evaluating, interpreting and promoting modern scientific research and studies, which are relevant to the scientific field of their doctorate, and (d) documenting their positions using scientific criteria, with clarity, sufficiency, and accuracy.
Competences: The doctors are capable of (a) applying with professionalism the specialized knowledge and competence obtained through their doctorate, (b) dealing effectively with new, interdisciplinary issues, (c) contributing significantly to the development of knowledge and practices in the educational, vocational, and business field, and (d) undertaking autonomously the responsibility for the education / further learning / teaching in the field of Lifelong Learning and Special Education.

Relation to Employment

The doctorate title in Lifelong Learning comprises an additional formal qualification for its holders - provide they hold the basic titles of studies (degree) provided by the law - in order to work in the public and private sector as specialists on:
- administration of organisations and structures for adult education;
- study, design, application, and evaluation of adult education and training programmes;
- education of adult educators about the subjects of adult education and learning and of lifelong learning;
- management and development of human resources in organisations and businesses;
- professional orientation and professional - social integration of vulnerable social groups.

The doctorate title in Special Education comprises an additional formal qualification for its holders - provide they hold the basic titles of studies (degree) provided by the law - in order to work in public and private bodies of special training and rehabilitation and in School Units for Special Training and Education. The specialisation of "Special Education" covers the entire field of education for individuals with special educational needs and aims to provide specialized education and training for researchers and executives specialized on the prognosis, evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of these needs, as well as on teaching, rehabilitation, and on the educational, social, and professional integration of individuals with disabilities.
