Description

Knowledge: The learners know and understand the general and specialized theoretical context of social sciences (mainly international relations, economics, and political science) with emphasis on the international aspects, including the respective experiential background (e.g. history, exercise of policy).

Skills: The learners are capable of developing and using both logic and critical thinking, and proceed to the composite and analytical processing, within the context of social sciences (mainly international relations, economics, and political science) and specifically of the relevant subject of studies (the international phenomena) and use various quantitative and qualitative methods and work or communicate in a foreign language.

Competences: The learners are capable of using their knowledge and skills for studying and researching within the context of social sciences (mainly international relations, economics, and political science), with emphasis on the international aspects, while also using them with flexibility in different work environments, such as (national and international / European) public administration, education, and private businesses.

Learning outcomes: Following the successful completion of the programme, the learners shall understand completely the fields of international relations, of the economy and politics, at a theoretical and applied level, analyse problems of the (international) economy and politics, suggesting methods for managing or resolving them, while also being capable of making use of their knowledge and skills in the national and international / European labour market (public administration, education, private businesses).

Relation to Employment

The degree is necessary to work as an economist, in accordance with the relevant clauses of the Greek Chamber of Economy (with regard to the graduates of the department with direction of International and European Financial Studies), as an educator (depending on the direction, for the specialisation of economists or legal / political scientists), as well as in order to be work in a post requiring university education by the public sector. In addition, they may also find work in various posts in the private sector, in EU agencies, and in international organisations.
