Advanced knowledge in the fields of quantitative methods and informatics, and application thereof in the modelling and resolution of problems related to finance and management.

Skills: Application of knowledge to positive sciences, engineering, financial engineering, and to the science of management for the resolution of interdisciplinary problems and decision taking. Formulation of studies, proposals, and judgements after taking into consideration the various technological, administrative, and financial aspects.

Competences: Resolution of complex and multi-faceted problems using computer programming, mathematical modelling, and financial-technical evaluation of solution feasibility, and application of methods for strategic administration.

Learning outcomes: Interdisciplinary profile, so that the finance and management engineer has a competitive advantage regarding the critical interfaces of the engineering science with the science of management and economics. The Financial and Management Engineer is capable of making use of sophisticated quantitative methods in financial and scientific management, and specifically in projects, operations, and businesses directly related to the fields of the engineer.

Relation to Employment

The profession of the Financial and Management Engineer is open, and no professional license is required. Notwithstanding the above, this is a very demanding profession, since it combines knowledge of engineering and management or finance. The steep requirements of the profession, in combination with the currently uniqueness of the Diploma of Financial and Management Engineer in the Greek field have allowed for increased demand in the labour market, and especially in the private sector, where 90% of the graduates are employed.
