Description
Learning outcomes: It is expected of the Department's graduates to have:
- understood the basic principles, values, and concept of the profession of Beautician - Cosmetologist;
- acquired the necessary scientific and technological knowledge, competences, and skills;
- understood the basic principles for the organization and operation of the beauty centre, in order to be capable of:
- putting their knowledge into practice;
- undertaking the responsibility for establishing, organizing, and operating a beauty centre;
- evaluating, selecting, and effectively using suitable machinery, instruments, and materials;
- designing and safety providing his/her services both for attending to healthy skin and for treating aesthetic issues;
- working in cosmetic industries, participating in the development, production, quality control and studies about the safety and effectiveness of new cosmetics;
- collaborating effectively with scientists of other specialties (dermatologists, endocrinologists, and cosmetic surgeons), in order to deal with issues of his specialty;
- issue studies and participate in research teams;
- working in the various levels of education and generally adapting to new environments and requirements, while continually learning and thinking critically, understanding, analysing and solving composite problems falling into his/her specialty.
Relation to Employment
The degree in Aesthetics and Cosmetology of the Faculty of Health and Welfare Professions of Alexander Technological Educational Institute is necessary for employment. The professional rights of the Department's graduates have been established by Presidential Decree 83 (Government Gazette 37/7-2-1989, article 1). A Professional License is required for the establishment and operation of a Beauty Centre.
