Description
Knowledge: The teaching of Core Courses is included (Chemistry, Biochemistry, Genetics, General Microbiology, Anatomy, etc.), along with Specialisation Courses (Haematology, Clinical Chemistry, Specialised Microbiology, Immunology, Cytology, etc.), and Special Background Courses (English terminology, Laboratory Animals, etc.) with the purpose of understanding the normal functions of the human organization and the anomalies thereof, the change of the biological indicators, resulting from pathological conditions, the principle of operation of the diagnostic techniques and the possible interventions for drawing reliable results.
Skills: The ability to put the knowledge into practice is acquired through Laboratory Practice and by participating in Practical Exercises.
Competences: Within the context of the six-month practical training, students apply their knowledge and skills in the actual working conditions in the Departments of Hospitals and Diagnostic centres.
Learning outcomes: The objective of the Department is to produce graduates who are capable of working in any Hospital / Diagnostic Centre Department or work in any relevant area.
Relation to Employment
The title of studies is a necessary and sufficient condition for employment in any Hospital and Diagnostic Centre department or in any other relevant area, without requiring any professional license (Government Gazette 118, 14/6/96).
