Description

Upon completing the courses of the programme, the learners shall acquire the necessary knowledge (what is expected of them to know), the skills (what is expected of them to understand) and competences (what is expected of them to apply) in the Logistics and Supply Chain Management.
Specifically, they will:
Knowledge
- acquire the necessary theoretical and laboratory training which shall lead to their scientific specialisation on a wide range of core studies, in the field of Logistics;
- understand the importance of Logistics and Supply Chain Management for business entities of the private or public sector, or for construction / processing or service entities;
- have the necessary knowledge regarding the main elements and operations of the supply chain, and specifically customer service, supplies, production support, transports and distributions, management of stock, storage, and green supply chains;
- identify the objectives and the critical success factors of the supply chain management;

Skills
- understand the current developments in the field of logistics and supply chain management;
- familiarise with the new and emerging concepts in the Supply Chain;
- understand the option of using standards for taking decisions regarding business problems of the Supply Chain Management;
- understand the importance of modern Supply Management and the effect of its effective operation in the increase of company profits and competitiveness;
- understand the various methods for commercial transports;
- understand the critical importance of the rational organisation, programming and control of inventories and procedures for storage, and for improving the competitiveness of the commercial and productive businesses;
- understand the basic operations and the role of the technologies and IT systems for the support of the design, execution, monitoring, and control of the operations of the Supply Chain;
- understand the importance of completing business procedures and Supply Chain procedures by adopting ERP, CRM and SCM IT systems;
- understand every parameter related to the operations of a supply chain, with special emphasis on the various cost elements created;

Competences
- promote the science of the Logistics and Supply Chain Management through their participation in research programmes and activities;
- apply the various stages of the purchase procedure and understand the different approach followed for purchasing materials, equipment, and services, domestically or from abroad, both in the private and in the public sector;
- successfully apply suitable quantitative methods in applications relevant to stock management;
- use and apply the techniques and tools of Quality Management with regard to issues of the Supply Chain;
- apply integrated and specialised business IT Systems in support of the decision taking procedure and for the digital execution of the procedures of the Supply Chain Management;
- resolve business problems related to the management of the supply chain, using specialised software applications.
