Description

Upon completing their studies, the graduates have the necessary scientific knowledge in the fields of Economy and specifically of Accounting and Finance, along with technological knowledge and skills, in order to be capable to work in all sectors of the Department's cognitive subject, either as an executive in the accounting department of businesses, organisations, and services of the private and public sector, or as self-employed.
Specifically, the graduate of the Department of Accounting and Finance of the Technological Educational Institute of the Central Macedonia:
• Keeps accounting books and records of all classes, in accordance with the relevant tax legislation, the Hellenic General Chart of Accounts, and the International Accounting Standards (IAS).
• Prepares and analyses balance sheets and analytical statements, drafts budgets for businesses and organisations.
• Applies principles and methods for costing and evaluating, as well as for financing and managing businesses, using national and EU resources for their financing.
• Drafts financial studies and provides financial advices.
• Applies procedures of internal and external control, along with the legislation regarding accounting, tax, labour and commercial issues.
• Is knowledgeable about modern computer applications in Accounting and Finance, and generally of the Accounting IT systems.
• Interprets and analyses the accounting and financial data of businesses and organisations in the wider domestic and international macroeconomic and microeconomic environment and prepares the relevant reports and studies.
• Makes use of modern statistical and financial methods for the study and research of issues related to Accounting, the organisation and administration of businesses, the productive procedure, market research, as well as the technological applications thereof.

Relation to Employment

The Title of Studies is one of the titles necessary for exercising the profession of the 2nd Class Accountant / Tax Accountant. Following a three-year practice of the 2nd Class Accountant / Tax Accountant, the graduate enters the 1st Class of the profession.
