Learning Outcomes
Following the completion of the Programme, the learner must be able:
1. At knowledge level
• conceive ideas within the context of developing innovative design proposals;
• identify and describe the currents of Art in the modern cultural environment;
• decode the messages of Fashion Forecasting within the current aesthetic and social state of play;
• collect and categorise information from primary and secondary sources of research;
• analyse the results of modern technology regarding the industry of the Textile and Clothing Industry;
• explain with a documented method the procedures for manufacturing one or a series of clothing products;
• specify the properties and the qualitative characteristics of the textile products used as raw materials for manufacturing clothing;
• specify the conditions for the development of new products in the Market of the Textile and Clothing Industry;
• develop Marketing and communication strategies in the procedure for promoting clothing products;
• specify the course of the Textile and Clothing Industry branch in the global and Greek economy.
2. At skill level
• reproduce a clothing style through its details;
• create complete design suggestions based on Fashion Forecasting, within the modern business environment of the Clothing Industry;
• organise a personal design system in the procedure for the organisation and development of clothing collections;
• operate electronic systems for designing and producing clothes (CAD/CAM);
• construct and process clothing standards in accordance with international somatometric specifications;
• operate the technology tools regarding the procedure for the creation of clothes;
• combine the main and auxiliary materials of the textile industry for the creation of clothes or a clothes collection;
• control the technical specifications setting the quality and the cost of the raw materials produced, of the intermediate and of the final products;
• present elementary methods for the qualitative and quantitative data analysis within the context of taking business decisions;
• organise promotional procedures within the context of a product promotion campaign for clothes.
3. At competence level
• select the suitable actions with regard to the procedure for organising and developing a collection;
• identify and integrate the messages of the Fashion Forecast in the spirit of a modern design proposal;
• evaluate the originality of an idea and manage it accordingly within the procedure of product development;
• defend their aesthetic selections and justify or revise them, when considered necessary;
• use the results of the scientific research based on continuous technological progress and sustainability;
• integrate technological innovation in the procedures and systems developed;
• resolve effectively problems regarding the knowledge and skills acquired, in their work environment;
• participate as an expert in International Fashion Shows and organisations of the Clothing industry;
• observe the basic rules with regard to labour relations and/or the management of human resources;
• contribute to the adjustment of Businesses to the modern, globalised, environment of the Clothing industry.
Relation to Employment
The title of studies is necessary for the exercise of the profession of the Clothing Designer and Technologist.
