The National and Kapodistrian University of Athens is the oldest higher education institution in modern Greece, founded in 1837, and the first university established in Greece, the Balkans and the Eastern Mediterranean. It is a public, self-governed university with a strong international presence, offering undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programmes across a broad spectrum of academic disciplines.
